Veprove na cesneku / Garlic braised pork

Ingredients:
  • 1kg pork shoulder 
  • 1big onion
  • 8 cloves of garlic
  • All purpose flour
  • Tea spoon of caraway seeds
  • Salt 
  • Pepper
  • Pork lard


  1. Chop the meat in  1 inch cubes, add salt and pepper
  2. Chop the onion and garlic (separately) in small cubes
  3. Heat 2 full tbsp of lard in pan on high heat, add the meat cubes and stir fry until golden. If they release water, wait for the water to evaporate
  4. Remove the meat
  5. Reduce the heat to medium
  6. Add the onion, 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds and stir fry until golden
  7. Add the garlic and stir fry 1 more min. Don’t let the garlic burn
  8. Sprinkle with 1 tbsp of flour and stir fry for 30 more seconds
  9. Pour with water or broth and add the meat back to the pan
  10. Cook on low-medium heat until the meat is soft
  11. Salt and pepper to taste



Spinach Side:

Ingredients:
  • 500g of spinach
  • 100g of onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1-2 tbsp of breadcrumbs
  • Salt, pepper
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tbsp pork lard

  1. If the spinach is frozen, gently squeeze the excess water
  2. Chop the onion on cubes
  3. Crush and chop the garlic on small pieces
  4. Heat 1 tbsp of lard in the pan
  5. Add the onion and garlic and stir until glossy, dont burn the garlic
  6. Add the spinach, salt and pepper stir and cover the lid
  7. stir occasionally, don’t cook for more than 2 minutes
  8. Reduce heat to low
  9. Break 1 egg and add the breadcrumbs, stir in
  10. Cook for max 1 more minute - the egg should stay soft
